Meet your host
Hi, I'm Kate.
I fell in love with horses as an adult — not as a child, the way you might expect. I was going through a difficult time when a friend suggested I try riding. That's how it started. Horses have a quite magical power to heal emotions, and the moment you're with them, you feel an immense sense of support. I put everything into learning fast, just so I could get out and enjoy the rides.
Now it's time to create the experience I've envisioned for a long time, and share it with others. My goal is simple: give beginners the chance to learn to ride, and let advanced riders enjoy the power and freedom of galloping through the fields, beaches and olive groves of this mystical landscape.
Puglia stole my heart, and it has it all — the weather, the fresh local food, mozzarella and burrata from the motherland itself in Martina Franca, olive oil pressed from the very groves we ride through, local Puglian wine, and a turquoise Adriatic Sea that doesn't feel real until you've seen it. What could be more magical than that?
Every morning starts with Pilates. Every afternoon, horse riding. Every evening, a stroll through town and good food shared together.
I'll be hosting you here for different experiences over time — but always with horses, and always with gentle, intentional movement.
Why Reterria exists
There is a reason being near a horse feels different from anything else.
A horse's heart is nearly five times larger than a human heart. The electromagnetic field it generates extends several feet beyond its body — large enough to reach you before you've even touched the animal.
Scientists believe this field directly influences the human nervous system. Researchers call what happens next heart rate synchronisation. The horse and the human, breathing together.
Then there is Pilates.
Riding demands a stable core, open hips and a lengthened spine. Tension in your body transfers directly to the horse. Stiffness in your hips makes balance impossible. The deep stabilising muscles activated during Pilates are the exact same muscles that keep you balanced in the saddle. Hip flexor release — one of Pilates' fundamental movements — is the difference between a rider who fights the horse and one who flows with it.
This is not coincidence.
Morning Pilates. Afternoon riding. Your body learns stillness before it learns speed.
This is why Reterria exists.
